Welcome, brave one.

This is the beginning of the next chapter towards reclaiming your true essence.

Come, come, whoever you are,
Wanderer, worshiper, lover of
leaving, it doesn’t matter.
Ours is not a caravan of despair.

Come, even if you have broken
your vows a thousand times come,
yet again, come, come.

— Rumi

Hi, I’m River!

Are you struggling to make sense of the world right now, or grieving the state of our planet? Feeling like you’re on a hamster wheel and not coping how you’d like, or struggling with ADHD, internalized shame, anxiety, depression or trauma? Have you been in recovery for a while, sober and abstinent, but still feeling stuck? Hearing the voice of your internal critic louder than your own? Or, you know yourself fairly well, have gained all the insights, but you may be having a hard time applying them.

I’m a Professional Counselor Associate in Portland, Oregon, devoted to helping people find their power and rewrite the story of who they are.

I work exclusively with individual adult clients, with a primary focus on helping women and queer folx. I have a particular interest helping people in search of meaning in the midst of today’s world, people beyond their first year of substance use or addictive behavior recovery, and transplants from other cultures.

I’m authentic, a little “woo-woo” and definitely exuberant at heart. I mean, a big dream is to have 3 miniature sheep for my clients to visit after sessions. I care a lot about personal agency and living in alignment with one’s values and higher purpose. Starting Caravan Counseling is how this came into fruition in my personal life - by helping people find their own way to embodying their own values and higher purpose.

I built my tiny cabin-office by the shores of the Willamette, in St-Johns at Green Anchors and am currently seeing clients both in person (which I prefer) (as COVID safety allows) and via telehealth.

If this all speaks to you, you like nature and animals, gardening, crafts and bodies of water (the mini-cabin is about 100 feet from the Willamette), i invite you to contact me.
